Procedure of PPDT test:-

Picture perception and Discussion test better known as PPDT is a part of Day 1 Screening which is conducted immediately after the completion of OIR test.

There is no break as such between the test, in fact you have to be seated in the exact same place for PPDT test as well.

You will be shown a blurred picture for 30 seconds. Then you will be give 4 minutes to write a story describing that picture. After that you will be divided in groups of 15 candidates each.

Here are some tips for story writing :- 

Please note Total no. of characters perceived in the picture.

 Also note How many out of them are male, female, (M,F,P) [“P” stands for person when you are unable to distinguish]

 Approximate age of each character.

 Mood of each character (+,-,0/N) [0 or N refers to neutral]

 Put a circle around the character whom you have identified as your hero

 Write the Action of your story based on what is happening around in the picture and write your story then.

Structure of the sheet given to you for story writing is provided below :-

After you write the story,

You all will be taken to a seperate room group wise and first the officer will give you briefing. Than your group will be made sitted into a semicircular form. And each one will be narrating his story one by one. 

Time given for narrating your story is 1 minute. 

As the last candidate finish his narration group discussion will start automatically. 

In group discussion your group has to give a common story. 

To get selected you have to participate 2-3 times in the discussion. 

After that your group has to select on candidate to narrate your common story and the PPDT test will end here. 

After that, around half an hour later results will be announced. 

Common Mistakes during PPDT :-

1. It is quite a stressful activity as there are approx 15 candidates are present along with 3 assesors sitting in front. many candidates feel nervous and are not able to speak anything. So you are requested to practice in advance for that.

2. Some candidates just cram up some stories from various books and other sources. These type of stories are considered irrelevent and make sure chances of failure.

3. If you will narrate your story well and do not take part in disscussin then this shows that you are not confident and you willl fail.

4. some candidates on the other hand, dominate the disscussion and dont give chance to others, which is also undesirable.

An accepted candidate is one who percieves the picture correctlyand weaves a nice story around the stimulus shown. He relates the characters correctly and narrates the story confidently and also takes enthusiastic part in the disscussion to arrive at a common story.
